Week 1 of Being Thankful

I've been writing a short little journal entry on what I'm thankful for each day since the first day of this month. I just think November is the perfect month, especially right before Christmas to reflect on all of the amazing blessings we've all been given. I just thought I'd share some of what makes me appreciate being here and doing what I'm doing.

November 1, 2010: I'm thankful to the sweet camper at the campground who put Sixlets into Adeline's trick or treat bag this weekend. I sure do love those.

November 2, 2010: As a mother the most rewarding moments come when you realize out of no where how much your child learns from you. "Bleshyew" ( Bless you), "How are you", and "TT Mommy" (Thank you Mommy) are little phrases I hear throughout the day to myself or others from Adeline when I just sit back and smile thankful she's picking up on some good habits too.
November 3, 2010: I'm thankful for 8 years of a solid, strong, loving relationship with my incredible husband. I'm thankful that he works so hard to make sure our family has more than what we need. I love you Philip.

November 4, 2010: Today I'm especially thankful for the 5 gallon bucket full of whole pecans that kept my toddler entertained long enough for me to fold laundry without it being thrown all over the living room. Maybe I should rephrase that into something a little sweeter-thanks nature, for making nuts! :)

November 5, 2010: Thank you God for technology. I'm missing Philip terribly, and without my iphone or computer, I'd be a lonely wifey.

November 6, 2010: This weather is lovely. I'm so thankful to have felt that cool breeze brush across my cheek as I walked passed the kitchen window this morning. The feeling you get when it's the time of year where you crack the windows for a little bit of nature inside is just so peaceful. South Louisiana get's hot so a cool November breeze makes me want to give nature a big ole hug!!

November 7, 2010: I love Sundays. I love worship. I love my church. I love the word. I love the rest. I love a family day, even when sometimes family is only the two of us. I love a Sunday football game. I love a Sunday afternoon nap. I love Sunday evening snuggling. Sundays are a blessing in itself. :)

I was going to just save up all of my thankful days and share them all on Thanksgiving, but I decided to go week by week instead.
It's been really nice sitting down and reflecting on all of my blessings whether its Sixlets or Sundays.

What are you thankful for?
Right now.
Right this very second.

  1. I am thankful for little reminders to be thankful. Does that make sense? Sometimes it's so easy to get caught up in the day to day life that i foget to take a second and just thank God for all the amazing blessing we really do have.
    Thanks for the little reminder!

  2. I'm thankful for my husband. He is my world, and without him and my son, I would not be who I am today. I know what you're going through, with your husband being gone (mine has been in boot camp for the Marine Corps for the last 11 weeks, and has 2 more to go). It takes strong women to do what we do.
Thank you for posting this, it truly reminds me to be thankful that he is willing to be gone for so long to take care of us and to do something that is important to him.

  5. What wonderful things to be thankful for! At the moment I'm thankful for Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, which is keeping my 3 year old entertained while this mommy is off in blog-land :)
