15 Weeks Left

I'm 25 weeks pregnant now, although I'd really rather count by weeks I have left rather than weeks far along I am.
I look more like 35 weeks pregnant, huh?
[Don't answer that, I already know.]
Seriously, I feel way bigger this pregnancy than my first. The belly is definitely larger, but my weight is about the same as it was this far along with Adeline.
I mean, by the end of the day, I'm already waddling people.

I can already feel him under my ribs when I'm not sitting up straight; I have a feeling he's going to be a pretty big boy. Although, Adeline was big too, at 40 weeks we induced because they were afraid she'd be too large to have naturally. She ended up at 8 pounds 1 ounce and 21 inches long.
and let me tell you I felt every 21 inches in there!

Eughh I don't even want to talk about that anymore.

Anyway, I've been hard at work clearing out my old craft room to transform into a nursery.
Maybe that's where the waddle comes from, it was after all pretty hard work doing it all by myself.
It paid off though! I feel like I have a blank canvas to work in, but now I just don't know what I want to do in it.
The wall color is a cloudy blue, and I'm not repainting. That's the color I painted when we built the house, and to be honest I just don't feel like repainting it. I probably should since it needs a few touch ups, but I know the paint is in the attic and with the heat to it it's probably slightly discolored. Oh well.

His dresser was moved in yesterday. It's an antique from my grandma. I originally wanted to paint it white and distress it a little, but my mom won't let me paint it since my grandma had it refinished a few years ago. It's free and we needed a dresser so I took it anyway. Plus that would just be another thing I'd have to get done.
I'm really glad I took it and I'm starting to love it just the way it is. The honey chestnut color matches the floor well, and I think that's the color I'll go with for the crib too. The knobs are crystal, and I think I'm going to change them to some big brushed nickel knobs to make it a little more masculine, but other than that I just need to get a changing pad for the top, and that's that!
Oh, he even has a few things in it although, I'm going to need to do some baby boy shopping pretty soon!
and the crib is going to go here between the windows. That's the chalk/peg board Philip made me for my craft room. It's obviously going to go, but it's too heavy for me to move by myself, so I've got to wait a couple of weeks until he's back. Our ugly electrical panel is underneath there, so I'll definitely be hanging something in it's place. I was thinking just a big board with striped fabric and maybe a big letter G or something, but I'm not loving that idea yet, so if you have any suggestions please, please, please throw them my way!
Here are some fabric swatches I'm planning on going with in the nursery. I really love gray, and I think I want mostly gray, silver, and orange accents in this room. I think it'll be a pretty contrast against the icey blue.

At first I was thinking of doing a mild goldfish theme in the room, but now I'm leaning towards no particular theme just strong and soft accents throughout. I don't know.

So, I have some questions/need some opinions:

-Do you have any clue or ideas on what I can put on the wall in place of my gigantic chalkboard that will cover the electrical box?
-Are those polka dots too girly?
- I'm not opposed to painting anything thing on the walls, but I was learning towards maybe a gray design here and there rather than animals or a mural or anything. Any ideas on where I can go there that would be something subtle?
-I've been slowly internet searching, but I don't think I'm looking in the right spots. Everythign I'm finding is either too cartoony or just not my style. If you have some pictures or a good website or seller that you could send my way, I'd love that!

I have 2 weeks to do any decorating before Philip gets in. I kind of want to go one way or the other before he's home so that he can't talk me out of anything, which he often does.
;)

Thanks guys!!
Have a lovely weekend

wow, Gideon's getting big, huh? well, our family's on the tall side, mostly Norwegian and German, but my younger bro was 11 pounds at birth.
youch, huh? good thing he was child #4, not 2. heheheh.
ohhh, i know that feeling of not knowing what to do with a blank canvas!! usually i just wait and do something else until inspiration strikes for that certain thing. ;)

  2. I have a similar paint color in our nursery (we painted it when we bought the house... totally NOT repainting!)... although considering we could have a boy OR girl... I'm not 100% sure how we're going to decorate either. I think we're going to go with browns and whites--then accent depending on the baby's gender. I don't know. If I see or think of anything, I'll let ya know... but at this point, my brain is on over-load with our own nursery! LOL!
I don't think the orange polka dots are too girly... just depends on how you use them!
    Love the dresser!!

  3. Loving the orange and grey (obviously...haha...since those are our nursery colors too).

You look fabulous! I definitely feel bigger this pregnancy too. I think it just comes with the territory of subsequent babies!

  5. I love the idea of doing a fabric board with the colors you chose (adorable, by the way), in a sort of quilt pattern? And then put a G in the center?
Also, you could go to wallwritten.com for some vinyl decorations. That's where I'm going to be getting the ones for my son's room when my husband and I finally get stationed somewhere.
    Good luck, you look amazing!

  7. We have a room painted the exact same color and I love it...For some reason I get this sense of peace when I walk in there.

For the wall w/the chalkboard on it you could do a few things:
    1) Make something similar to a medicine cabinet to cover it
    2) Find a canvas big enough to paint and then put hinges on it so that the box can be covered.

I think the polka dots work either way because of the color they are based off of. I also love the other coordinating colors you decided to choose.

I would defintely do something abstract or just a general design instead of animal or such. I have been seeing numerous amounts of nurseries done that way and just seems more versatile in my opinion.

Here is a girls nursery of a blog I read and I think it's pretty without having a particular theme:

Hope some of this helps! Best of luck with everything!

  8. I just happened by your blog last night/today. Congrats on the new baby! Boys are sooooo wonderful. I myself have 2 boys and 2 girls. I LOVE the name that you picked out. Its a great name. The name I picked for my first son, Job, my family hated, I got soooo much grief for it. They aren't Christians. But my husband's side of the family loved it - they are Christians. And I believe that my son will be a Faithful man of God, just as Job from the Bible was. I know that I chose the right name and I know you did too.
