Big Sister in Training

Who would have ever thought my little tiny baby would go from swinging peacefully in her little baby swing...
to very soon swinging a little baby brother.
Gideon's nursery is the top spot as far as hanging out goes in this house. Adeline's all about playing in "Baby G's" room. She's aware that's his dresser, and now it's his jumperoo, swing, bath tub, and rocker... but I really think she has no clue what's in store for our future! I can only hope for a smooth transition, although I think I know better.
In the meantime, Mickey and Turtle are getting some high class treatment!

Picture Frame Face Lift

Philip actually made these frames for me last year:
He built them, and I painted them with intentions of giving them away as Christmas gifts.
I really loved the way they came out. I had used some spare paint I had from doing a little bit of work in Addie's nursery, and that's probably where I went wrong. Every person I'd go to give a frame to, I'd decide against it because I didn't feel like the color represented them or their decor well.

Oh well.
I'm glad I held onto them, because as I was cleaning my craft room, I came across them and knew I had to redo them for the new nursery. So  this morning, I grabbed my Folk Art silver metallic paint, some Mod Podge, scrapbook paper, paint brush, and a razor blade; and this is how they came out:
Not too shabby if I do say so myself. My first idea was to fill the frames with silhouettes of a little boy fishing, since my husband is a big fisher himself. Then I decided to just go with photos to add a touch of color to them. I may go with silhouettes down the road if little Gideon decides he's into fishing. The first picture is a photo of Philip's father probably around Philip's age. Gideon's middle name is after his grandpa Harry, so I figured it'd make a nice representation of where his name came from. The second picture is just a shot of Gracie, our Labradoodle. I have a picture of Gracie in Addie's room and it's always been a big hit with her, so I figured little mister may like it too.
So there they sit, just waiting for a Daddy to get home and hang them on the wall. I'm actually not allowed to puncture any sheet rock, per Philip's strict instructions. I honor them, since he did build this place himself ya know? He's a little picky about exact cms and things being square and all of that junk I don't care about.
