14 weeks

 14 weeks
Boy? Girl? Boy? Girl?
This wait drives me nuts.
Today I called Philip at work to ask him about a potential baby name, and he fussed me because he thought something was wrong since I never call at work.
I can't help it!
Baby on the brain!
You'd think I'd care less about the gender this go round since I already have one of each and neither sex will be anything new to our family.
I really can't wait to find out though.
I genuinely don't prefer one over the other so that's good.
I really want a boy!
but I really want a girl.
but a boy would be easier.
but a girl would be easier to name.
Haha see!???? I'm a little bit crazy.

Like.... I'm turning to wives tales crazy.
See:

Fetal Heart Rate and Gender Another popular gender prediction method is based on the baby's heart rate. If the baby's heart rate is over 140 beats per minute, then you are having a girl. If the baby's heart rate is under 140 beats per minute, you are having a boy.

For Adeline the wives tale was proven, she always had a high heart rate.

For Gideon the wives tale was true, he always had a lower heart rate.

Wives tale accordingly baby3 would be a girl with a heart rate always in the 170s.

Chinese Gender Chart:  Ancient Chinese Gender Chart is over 700 years old. The legend said that the Chinese birth gender chart was found in a royal tomb by a Chinese scientist. Chinese gender chart fertility calendar was recently discovered and is now used to predict the gender of the unborn baby.

For Adeline the Chinese Gender Chart was false and predicted she was a boy.

For Gideon the Chinese Gender Chart was true!

For baby3 the Chinese Gender Chart predicts girl.

How you carry boy or girl: One of the popular myths is how you carry your baby can predict the gender. If you carry high, then it's a girl; and if you carry low, it's a boy. If most of your weight is in front, then you are having a boy; if your most of your weight is in the middle, then you should plan for a girl.

 For all 3 I carried/am carrying low.
So that would be false for Adeline.
True for Gideon.
and that predicts baby3 as a boy.

Your cravings gender determination: Some myths propose that if you are craving sweets during your pregnancy, you are having a girl. If you are craving spicy and salty foods, then you are having a boy.

Well... I don't crave anything at all when I'm pregnant.
Except for about 1 week each pregnancy I craved strawberry Starbursts. Just the pink ones.
So this would be true for Adeline.
False for Gideon.
and predicts baby3 as a girl

and then there's the trusty everyone else's gender guess: Where all of your family and friends make a solid guess at the baby's gender.
For Adeline most of my friends and family guessed girl, so it was true.
For Gideon most of my family and friends guessed boy, so it was true.
For baby3 from what I'm hearing most of ya'll are on team pink which estimates girl

Sooooo although the majority of the wives tales predict I'm having a girl, I'm pretty much still very confused on what I think this baby bunny is. Wives tales predicting gender are silly. There are some I haven't tried because I refuse to pee on something weird just to watch the color turn and the ring on a string over the belly thing is just untrusting because I the person holding the string can manipulate it OR you can't even tell if its spinning or swinging.I guess I could give credit to the heart rate wives tale since it has been true for both of my little ones, but I'm thinking really it's just a fun little thing to keep you guessing!
I'm 14 weeks now. I go to the doctor later this week for a follow up and then we'll schedule my gender ultrasound then I think. They usually do it around 18 weeks, so I'd have to wait a month! I do know a little ultrasound specialty place here that guarantees gender determination as early as 16 weeks, but that'd be out of pocket for us to pay for, so I'm thinking I'll just wait until the end of March for my insurance covered ultrasound. It is very tempting though to sneak over and peek and whether we're going to be naming a little sister or brother.

I know either way God has made a perfect selection to the newest addition over here. Excited for when he lets us in on the secret.

We have a few girl names picked out, and so far we haven't even touched boy names and won't unless well, baby is a boy. We have such a hard time agreeing on boy names and had a really crazy time naming Gideon.
So I guess that's where we're at pregnancy wise. It's kind of been kicking my bum keeping up with these two when all I want to do is kick back on the couch. I'm looking forward to the fall when I have all three babies here and ready to love on. Until then just thanking God for this gift!

  3. Congrats! Haha. I found your blog a couple weeks ago because we decided to name our baby due in June Gideon. :-) You have great taste in names! ;-)

And for the record, both my boys had heart rates in the 170's. They break the rules. :-)

  5. Chinese Gender Chart has been correct 6 times out of 7 on my family so I guess it is a good free predictor. Note that you have to use lunar age and month to get the right outcome.
