Lingerie Shower

Dawn and Jonathan's wedding is a week away.
So tonight we are celebrating with a lingerie shower.

I saw some thong and bra cookies made from heart shaped cookie cutters somewhere over the passed few years and the moment I saw them I thought, "I've got to do that someday."

Todayyyy is the dayyyyyy.
[Imagine me saying that in a proud and victorious voice]

Well.
Can I just say that I hate sugar cookies.
The lasted 2 times I tried to make them (homemade of course) I ended up throwing the dough away because I can never get it to the right consistency.
Yes I said throw it away.
Because that's what I do when I'm frustrated.

This time I tried a new recipe, and while it obviously wasn't thrown away, I'm still not sold on it.
It was so sticky I had to add basically a cup of flour in the rolling out process to even get the cuts to come up and onto the pan. This made the dough dry and crackly.

Soooo I won't share the bummer of a recipe, although they do taste yummy (uh huh, I ate one).

BUT can I share with you this fab royal icing?
It's super neat because you apply it and then it dries hard so you can stack the cookies on top of each other.
This is the first time I've played with it, so it's kind of sloppy work, but here's the deal:

1 lb powdered sugar
5 TBSP meringue powder
1/2 cup water
couple of drops of vanilla extract

Mix that all together until you get stiff peaks.

Then I just spooned it into zip lock bags, pushed the icing to a corner, snipped the corner with scissors and iced. (If you want different colors separate icing in bowls and color then spoon into separate ziplocks.
Of course you could also use those nifty pastry bags or whatever, but I had zips and that's what I know, so works for me.

I used white, pale pink, and pale green.
Bottoms
 Tops

They didn't come out as clean and polished as I had pictured in my head, but for the purpose it'll serve, I think it works.
