Selah Was Here

Okay this is the last time you'll hear from me.
Today.

I'm sorry I just looked over my last post and it felt like it was cute but not living up to it's ultimate cute potential.
There we go. Selah's here.
Now let the cuteness rain all over this blog.
and seriously it doesn't get much cuter than baby toes and baby thigh rolls.
Her left one is my favorite.
and because it's fall here are our porch pumpkins.
and Selah in front of them.
oh here's some caramel apples. because it's fall. and I'm posting fall stuff. Alright?

Okay really I can't stop playing with my new camera.
Sorry for being annoying.

Khaveagoodnight. :)

Every Pumpkin Should Wear Glitter

My plans for today included putting away 3 loads of laundry, washing everyone's bedding, a load of dishes, vacuuming, cooking breakfast and dinner, and making sure all three children made it through the day breathing-and fed and stuff.
After 2 hours up at oh, 8am Adeline, my 3 1/2 year old, asked me to go somewhere or go do something.
We aren't used to idle days at home much since we're always on the go, and if we're still home by lunch she's usually a bit uncomfortable about that.
I looked at the laundry and then over at Gideon who was standing up on the kitchen table chair trying to reach his sister's smoothie pushed towards the middle to stay away from his reach.
Sure we can go somewhere, I know for sure Gideon won't injure himself in his car seat, and that way I don't have to fight the dog to stay out of my laundry piles.
 Mmk.
Yesterday was the park, and let's be real here. I cannot do the park two days in a row. Not by myself anyway, they out number me and make me want to hide from them in the tunnel slide for as long as possible.

So without a place to go or a fun thing to do I googled and Pinterest searched "fall activities for toddlers and preschoolers".
Only most of those search results required:
a. a lot of effort
b. more adult hands than I have available
c. an environment where it actually looks like autumn

So we just went to Rouses (where I made the kids pose by a pile of pumpkins trying to hide the big $3.99 signs plastered all over them so that I could have a fall picture resembling a pumpkin patch).
They picked out the lucky few and here. we. go.
This is Gideon. The messiest child to ever walk planet earth. Brought to you by Philip. The messiest man to ever walk planet earth. :)

During the first 5-10 minutes of painting these suckers I totally felt my good mom mojo flowing.
They were happy and it was a new activity and no one pulled anyone's hair yet.
Oh and Selah stayed asleep long enough for me to pull out my new fancy camera to take 167 pictures of the event. Thank you baby.
I resisted the urge to keep Gideon from painting the cement. Or his toes. Or his lips. All of which he chose red for.
and I resisted the urge to limit the paint colors to only fall colors, because blue just won't look right-- but I let her anyway.

Sometimes I wonder who this kid is, and then when I watch her get creative and meticulous with a project she makes me feel like I handed something down to her. It's way cuter when you're three though.
Oh, and then I gave them glitter.
That may or may not have been a mistake. Since my driveway will probably sparkle for a month.
But seriously produce is way cuter doused in glitter.

and somewhere during the clean up process this happened.

Which made me laugh so hard I nearly peed on myself.
This is Gideon about 30 feet away from us throwing a temper tantrum because it was Adeline's turn to use the hose. I have a really adorable picture of him running away to throw himself on the ground and roll around in grass, but Philip has this lame no butt cheek rule on the internet that I have sworn not to violate again. Just know it was really cute.

So yea.
This morning there was pumpkins. glitter. and naked babies.
All of which were obnoxiously adorable.

It's dood.

I love this time of year!
The air smells crisp [or if my Scentsy is on it smells like Marsh-mellow pumpkin]
The ground begins to cool off from the delightfully breezy weather.
The baking begins, and deep breaths ensue.

The past 4 years have been an even pattern.
Fall 2008 I'm pregnant and finally able to go from puking 12 times a day to 2 or 3 times a day.
Fall 2009 I'm enjoying watching my little baby learn our world.
Fall 2010 I'm pregnant and finally able to go from puking 12 times a day to 2 or 3 times a day.
Fall 2011 I'm enjoying watching my little bab[ies] learn our world.
September is the beginning of a cluster of months that really make me want to cry out to God in thanksgiving.
I enjoy the fall.
 So yea, I'm feeling good.
Enjoying these babies.
Enjoying this life.
Enjoying my God.

So while we patiently wait on a small little quilt on the cool green grass for the leaves to rust and decorate the ground, I take lots of deep breaths.
and I smile a lot.

It's good.
or as Adeline says "dood".

Adeline's First Trip to the Zoo [Photo Overload]

We're not quite sure when Philip will be going back to work, so the zoo was at the top of this month's priority list.
I wanted to go when the weather was cool, before Adeline is potty fully potty trained [I know.], and when of course I was feeling alright to walk 4057 miles around a huge park.

All was a go yesterday morning so we made an impromptu desision to hit the road and give it a go.

The weather was perfect.
The trip was awesome, and we had so much fun.

I'm wobbling like a duck and my hips are still sore, but it was so worth the big smiles I got to watch yesterday!

The sheep and goats were a favorite. They were all so cute and patient, and with Adeline being used to Gracie she wasn't scared at all. In fact when it comes to all of the animals she was pretty over all fearless, which was something I was kind of proud of and worried for simultaneously, haha.
Turtle got to meet a lot of his fellow family members. Long distant turtle cousins of all kinds. That was another sweet favorite! Adeline had to introduce turtle to all of his kind, and here he is kissing a turtle in a tank.

Anyway, I have 233 photos from the zoo, and I could go on showing them all, but I realize that could be annoying for you and tedious for me so these are some of my favorites.

We spent 4 and a half hours walking around 72 degree weather and watching our daughter go from amazement to exhaustion.

Happy Fall!

I'm glad the first official day of fall is on a Thursday.
I love Thursdays. Thursdays are a day that just makes me want to take a deep breath and smile.

While it wasn't exactly the perfect picture of fall weather down here in South Louisiana today, my favorite season calls for a little something extra.
I'm still too nauseous to do much cooking or baking, so no sweet treats here [other than the Halloween candy I got from Target].

So I decided to take a walk.
In some stores....
That doesn't count as something fall-ish either, huh?
Oh well. I don't do much shopping anymore, so this was special enough.

Note to self--check the weather before you go out OR simply carry an umbrella, like you smart folk do.
I walked into Hobby Lobby and it was sunny and bright, not a cloud in the sky... only to check out, pick up my shopping cart, and hear the loudest crack of thunder accompanied with rain coming down at a furious rate.
So I spent 10-15 minutes waiting for the rain to slack off enough for me to be confident that I wouldn't bust my big ol' bum running across the parking lot. I was thankful my mother in law offered to keep Adeline for me while I ran into town. I hate loading/unloading baby in the rain. That = wet back/bum, and that's no fun.
I came home with a lot of little goodies, but my favorite was this monkey mask in the dollar bin at Target. I was sure Adeline would love it since "oouhh ouuhh ahhh ahhh" is her favorite animal sound to make.
I was dead wrong.
That child was terrified, and I'd have taken a picture of her reaction if I'd have had any clue of how horrified she was going to be when I put it on.
All I could do is laugh hysterically while trying to hold her in between trying to mutter "It's okay, Mommy just looks like a monkey."
So I can't wear the mask, she can't wear the mask, but Gracie is allowed to be a monkey.
Whatever, it was funny.

Oh, checking the mail was awesome today!
Not a single bill, no junk, just this
I won this little baby beanie on a giveaway on Christopher and Tia's blog. Thanks Tia, and thanks Caprice Creations. Now my little boy will have a cute, warm head! :)

Speaking of my little mister:
The first belly is baby brother [still desperate for a name] today at 19 weeks, and the second belly is Adeline back at 19 weeks pregnant.
So our first day of autumn is coming to a wrap, and while it wasn't filled with pumpkins or rusty leaves we did play a little ball outside.
It didn't feel very cool, but it's going to be nice to be able to hang out outdoors again.
I hope you all had a nice fall day!

Sweetness

I'm feelin' the new refrigerator art. :)
