Easy Apron Tutorial

After I made my fruity kitchen apron, I've since made a couple more. One was a birthday gift and one for a wedding gift.
While making my last one I figured I'd take pictures so that I could share with you how EASY it is to make.
I didn't measure anything, nor did I use a pattern so this easy project isn't for you perfectionists.

Okay so first I cut out a large square.
I just kind of estimated how wide by my own hips (which have to be bigger than average).
Then I cut out the proportional pockets, waist ties, and a bottom border.
I did the bottom border straight on this one since it was a patchwork fabric, but if you wanted to do a ruffle like my other aprons have just cut the bottom fabric twice as long as you need it to ruffle.

I hemmed the main part of the apon first, and then I hemmed the pockets.
Next I worked on the waist ties:
Sew one side of the waist straps with the right side of the fabric touching.
Turn it inside out using the push thumb method.
Fold over the ends and finish with a straight or slanted hem.
Just place the straps at the top of the [finished] apron square. Fold over the top flap:
Stitch the straw onto the side (again when it's already hemmed)

Then just sew the pockets and the border on.
Plus don't forget to iron when it's all done.
(and if you have a horribly shedding Labradoodle make sure all of her black hair is lint rolled off.)
There you go, an easy, cute apron made in the time it took your 14 month old to nap.
