Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween ya'll! 

This year it was just me and my pup for Halloween. 

Daddy was sadly working in PA, and I just don't know what happened to Adeline. 

It's a shame we couldn't find her to take her along camping with us. 

We spent lots of time outside swinging, sliding, running, and even turtle hunting; I know she would have enjoyed that! 

 Oh, and I bet she'd have had plenty of fun with her cousins too!

She probably would have even gotten to eat a lot of candy from trick or treating, since she would have eaten every last bite of her dinner and have well earned the treats! Oh well, pup ate her share.

Alright, alright you got me. I didn't lose my Addie Jean, that was her lookin' like a pup! 

Really, I swear!

Flashback Friday

I hope you guys have a Happy Halloween weekend!

We're actually going to be camping this weekend for Halloween.

I've been a little apprehensive about the trip for a few reasons, but all in all I'm hoping to have a good time watching all of the little ones partake in fun little Halloween activities.

Plus Adeline is the cutest pup ever, and I'm so looking forward to watching her play around in her costume.

Anyway, I haven't flashed back with Tia in a while, so I thought I'd flashback today, with probably a lot of you others to last Halloween.

Miss Addie Jean was almost 9 months old, and yes she looks like she's seen a ghost in this picture, haha.

 Yep, our little angel was an angel for Halloween last year.

Actually, I'm really not very into Halloween. Her costume was something I put together for free two nights before Halloween. I had a bolt of white tulle left over from my wedding, some elastic, and some gold ribbon, and that was just enough to make her look angelic enough for a costume. Plus it was free AND easy! 

Can't beat that.

We weren't planning on trick or treating, because:

1. She only had 2 teeth.

2. She can't eat candy.

3. I didn't want to look silly taking an infant trick or treating.

BUT we went up trick or treating.

We went to visit Philip's godchild who was Buzz Lightyear Halloween night, and we ended up going along with their crew door to door for candy.

I was unprepared and without a stroller or a bag, but Philip's aunt lent me both.

By the end of the night, Adeline may have felt a little robbed, while everyone else ate candy and she had cheerios, but all the same she was exhausted from all of the attention. 

 Awwwa, one one year's time she's grown so much.

Pumpkin Shirts

I recently remembered I have a pumpkin maternity shirt!

Okay, well it's not a maternity shirt, it's a regular shirt, but I painted a jack-o-lantern where the belly goes, so if you wear the shirt while not pregnant it'd be a little silly looking.

This is me with my little Adeline pumpkin @ 22 weeks:

and this is me and my baby boy [still battling for a good name] pumpkin @ 22 weeks along with my little Squiggy. 

Daddy even sports a pumpkin shirt, although our little angel (last year's Halloween) is blocking his face.

You know, the Labradoodle? Hers is my favorite.

"Pup" Pajamas/Halloween Costume

This will be Adeline's second Halloween, and this year she's a "pup" as she likes to say.

I'd have given her the choice of what her costume is, but she has no idea what Halloween or a costume even is.

All she knows is that she's ONE (20 months), and that her favorite thing in the world right now is cheese, Mickey Mouse, and puppy dogs.

She has a couple of Dalmatian figurines she plays with every day, and the 101 Dalmatian Sing a Long DVD is on her top 3 favorite list (along with Mickey Mouse and Beauty and the Beast). So once I came across some spotted fabric I knew that's all I'd need to make a simple, cheap, and multi-use Halloween costume that she would love.

All in all it cost me $8 something, and that was just the fabric.

I used a pajama pattern for the costume, and I already had buttons, thread, elastic, and felt on hand.

I wanted to do more of a jumper/ long sleeve onesie kind of thing, but my daughter has a weird obsession/bad habit where she needs constant belly button access.

She started sucking her thumb at 6 months old, and I thought that was the only bad habit I'd be faced with breaking. Around 12 months old she then made it a thumb-sucking-while-finger-in-the-belly-button combo.

I've tried to break the habits with onesies shutting off the belly, but it drives her nuts.

Seriously, I'd rather just let her stick her finger in her belly button than watch her squirm around in fits as if she were in a straight jacket.

SO I knew I'd need a 2 piece costume, and because I'm all about multi-functional, I just used a pajama pattern on hand and added a hood for the puppy hat and ears.

I also added a little puppy dog tail on the pants.

Super simple, cost efficient, and wearable for many nights after Halloween, which is my favorite part! 

Edit: I had enough left over fabric to make Adeline a little trick or treat purse to match her costume.
She loves it, and so do I!

The sweetest part is when she sees the outfit she gets a big goofy smile and immediately starts barking like a "pup". Although I'm aching for the baby days that are so recently gone, this age sure is a lot of fun!
